Skygolpe arrives at Art Basel with Paint On Pixel II: All About Yesterday's Public Opening
In the ever-changing panorama of contemporary art, the threads of the past and future intertwine within a vibrant tapestry that balances tradition and innovation. This year, during Art Basel, we bring you the next exciting iteration of this evolution - Skygolpe's transformative solo exhibition produced by Valuart, "Paint On Pixel II."
Last year, Skygolpe marked a milestone at a Christie's auction, setting a new trajectory with his avant-garde concept of acquiring physical paintings through their digital certificates of authenticity—NFTs—via his 'Paint On Pixel' series.
Now, "'Paint On Pixel II' extends Skygolpe's pioneering journey into the captivating crossroads of the digital and physical realms, harmoniously uniting digital and physical elements to craft layered pieces that go beyond mere aesthetics.
A collection that testifies to the frenzy of our time, “Paint On Pixel II” by @skygolpe harmoniously combines the digital and physical, crafting layered pieces that stimulate philosophical discourse.

“"Paint on Pixel 2" is a collection that testifies to the frenzy of our time. The inputs and messages we receive involuntarily represent the majority of stimuli that flood our minds. The strength of contemporary communication does not lie in direct provocation but rather in nesting within subliminal waves of contextual presence. We may be free, but everything surrounds us. Our thoughts are undeniably sovereign, but their manifestation lies in the need for sharing.
The most astonishing aspect of collective consciousness is that it does not require our permission to exist. It feeds on our need to extend our identity beyond our bodies. The temptation of infinite potential is too seductive. A long time ago, we consented to deprive ourselves of subjective doubts in exchange for a multitude of shared truths.”

Each artwork - a desktop rich in digital fragments - explores the intricate paradoxes of the human condition, undergoing iterative cycles of scanning, printing, and painting.

Giampietro's piece crafts a world that bears striking similarity to our own Earth, wherein continents take the form of sprawling metropolises—direct results of human endeavors. Through the clear waters, a shared genesis is revealed, acting as a powerful symbol that continually underscores the shared roots of humanity and the terrifying aftermath of warfare.
But also a metamorphic journey from the world of physical painting into the boundless landscape of digital art, where space is employed as a transport to guide the observer through a transcendent exploration of art.
