🎨 NFT & Metaverse News

Damien Hirst takes over July with the “Great Expectations” drop and closing of the “The Currency” token exchange

Between the “Great Expectations” drop and just 12 more days left for holders of the “The Currency” collection to decide whether they want to keep the physical atwork or NFT, HENI has so many exciting things on the plate this month.

The “Great Expectations” NFT collection was minted earlier this week, containing 10,000 unique artworks made by Damien Hirst.

Following on from the artwork that he created for Drake's album cover, these NFTs depict grids of emoji-like pregnant women whose forms have been constructed from spots of various shapes, sizes and colors inspired by and taken directly from the “The Currency” artworks.

If on one hand the structure and basic forms are repeated across the series, each NFT is individualized by color or unique attributes, with no NFTs being the same. However, each piece does have attributes or combinations of attributes that can have different levels of rarity.

Speaking of which, there are just around 2 weeks left until the “The Currency” exchange deadline, with 2,155 physical artworks and 7,845 NFTs remaining so far.

To give a little bit of context, “The Currency” was Damien Hirst’s very first NFT collection, consisting of 10,000 unique NFTs each corresponding to an original work on paper.

Now, holders are asked to choose their currency, and decide whether they prefer to possess the Digital NFT or physical artwork.

A decision that must be taken by 3pm British Summer Time, on July 27th, 2022. Those who don’t choose the physical artwork before then, will see their corresponding physical piece be destroyed and vice versa.

But before destroying the pieces, there will be an exhibition of the artworks.

Yesterday, Damien Hirst also shared the full report containing the “ The Currency” June insights you can read here
